Make a difference. Be part of a unique, dynamic class that sets you apart from everyone else when applying for college.  Produce a live newscast that the entire school will watch.

Use cutting-edge equipment to produce our live newscast, and get experience with public speaking, teamwork, leadership, newswriting, web design and more.

Travel to national journalism conventions in Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington DC to compete with students across the country and learn from industry professionals.

Alumni have gone to schools like NYU, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Brown, Berkeley and LMU, and are working as news producers, television executives, directors and editors.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Current 8th Graders, Freshmen, and Sophomores interested in journalism, film, and television.

HOW TO APPLY

There are

NO PRE-REQUISITES.

Just write a brief essay stating why you want to join and what you can contribute to the show.  Then have three of your teachers fill out the teacher recommendation form

Incoming freshmen must have a minimum of a B+ in English.

WHAT CLASS DO I REGISTER FOR?

When you fill out your registration form, sign up for “Broadcast Journalism 1-2”

If you’ve already signed up for classes with your counselor, there’s still time to join our staff.  Just complete the application and Mr. Hernandez will notify your EA to make the changes.
